Product Details

Fire starting tinder is often marginalized because there are so many options available, but it is absolutely critical to any fire starting strategy. Tinder serves as an important bridge between a spark and enduring flame. It catches the spark and then burns to ignite more substantial kindling.

So what is so special about our patent pending FS T INDER ?

FS T INDER is-

1. Compact, self-contained and easy to handle and store
2. Inherently waterproof and highly wind resistant
3. Multi-purpose with unique components (non-woven cotton, jute, paper casing, custom blended fuel) that can be used in a variety of ways
4. Long burning, each 1” piece can produce an open flame for over four minutes
5. Quick to ignite once fluffed

It is also easy to section or pull off small portions for starting a fire under favorable conditions. So a single 1” piece could be used to make several fires. Any leftover tinder can easily be re-packed into its storage tube for later use. As a result there are no partially burnt sections or char to deal with.

Includes: 12qty pieces of FS T INDER .

Directions:

Normal Tinder
Using the SP3 F ERRO , push and completely remove the tinder from its storage tube. Pull the desired quantity of tinder apart several times to “fluff” it. Once fluffed, it quickly takes a spark . Any unused tinder is easily repacked into the storage tube with an SP3 F ERRO for later use. Fluffed sections will burn for roughly thirty seconds to one minute.

Tinder Log (spark lit max burn time)
Split the tinder storage tube in half by scoring its midsection with a sharp knife. Remove only one of the sections and set it aside. Slide the remaining section of storage tube to the center and remove the jute twine. Fluff the jute twine, make a nest and position it as needed. Fluff one end of the tinder and position the fluffed end next to the jute nest. Light the jute twine nest using the SP3 F ERRO and TS S TRIKER. Field burn time will depend on wind conditions but is roughly three to four minutes.

Candle (flame lit max burn time)
Split the storage tube in two by scoring its midsection with a sharp knife. Remove only one of the sections and place it aside. Skewer the bottom of the uncovered section of tinder with a toothpick or other small carved stick, and slide the remaining sleeve up so it extends slightly past the end of the tinder (1/16”). The tinder can now be positioned vertically using the skewer. Position the severed half of the tube alongside the exposed tinder. Using a lighter, or other open flame, light the top of the tinder, and protect the candle from wind. Field burn time using this method is roughly four to five minutes.
